fluidlab R-300:
Proven OEM reference platform

The fluidlab R-300 was the first compact device to combine automated digital cell counting and embedded spectrometry in a single instrument. Developed to demonstrate the capabilities of anvajo’s miniaturized optical systems, it continues to serve as a trusted reference for partners developing next-generation analytical solutions.

With hundreds of field installations, published performance reports and verified real-world workflows, the R-300 represents the reliability and precision of anvajo’s core technologies.

The fluidlab R-300 showcases the versatility and performance of anvajo’s optical platform:

  • Digital cell counting with high statistical accuracy
  • Label-free viability detection via holographic microscopy
  • Integrated spectrometry (375–700 nm) for absorption and scattering
  • Time-series and extinction measurements
  • Compact, maintenance-free hardware design
  • Minimal sample volume (10–20 µL), ideal for valuable or limited samples

“This cell counter is quick and easy to use, and provides consistent cell counts and viability. The lab also appreciates the fact that it is small and lightweight, and can be moved anywhere. After several years of use, it is still as reliable as ever. Special mention to the customer service team, who are always ready to help. I highly recommend it!”

“What I value most about the fluidlab R-300 is its flexibility and the ability to perform measurements independently of location. I can simply put it in my bag and, for example, measure samples directly at the fermenter in the pilot plant.
The device is easy and intuitive to use. After a measurement, I can quickly adjust the wavelength, allowing me to adapt the measurement efficiently. I would definitely recommend the fluidlab R-300.”

The anvajo datalab is a desktop application designed for scientific workflows. It provides direct access to all raw and processed data from the fluidlab R-300 and supports detailed analysis, export and documentation.

To ensure reproducibility and adaptability across use cases, anvajo developed the acella — a proprietary multi-purpose slide with various chamber heights (50µm, 100µm), optimized for small to large cells.

The fluidlab R-300 uses the label-free technique of digital holographic microscopy (DHM) to analyze cell number and viability directly in the cell culture environment. Contrary to brightfield microscopy, DHM does not use optical lenses but generates so-called ‘holograms’ of the cells, which are analyzed by a computer.
