Simple, automatic cell counting

Cell counting is a daily routine in laboratory environments. Even experienced and well-trained eyes get tired over time when counting large numbers of cells. Haemocytometers have been the market standard for many years in cell counting, however, these devices are mostly large in size and costly. Today's technological developments enable automated cell counting in a small, portable and low-cost manner when compared to current bench-top devices.

  • Easy to clean (when used in clean rooms and cell culture facilities)

Precise and reliable results

The combination of a spectrometer and a microscope in the fluidlab device ensures reliable and reproducible results are obtained for cell counting and cell/bacteria density measurements.

Due to the large field of view (FOV), hundreds or thousands of cells can be analyzed simultaneously, thereby increasing the statistical significance of the results when compared to other vision-based devices.

Cell counts can be performed by the fluidlab within 30 seconds.  A cell density measurement can be performed within 10 seconds (including blank). The time saved is significant when compared to manual cell counting techniques.

Cell counting has never been easier: pipette between 5 µl to 20 µl of sample onto the acella sample carrier and the fluidlab will do the rest. A proprietary autofocus algorithm ensures perfect counting results every time.

Linearity and precision of the fluidlab

A dilution series of a yeast culture shows exceptional linearity in a range between 1.8 x 106 and 17 x 107 with an R-squared of 0.999.

Personalised data handling for cell analysis

Transferring data from the fluidlab to a PC can be done via USB or WiFi. The intuitive graphical user interface (GUI) can be used via the touchscreen and makes navigating through the various options easy. Local and independent data processing ensures data safety.

The software, anvajo imaging suite gives the user access to the raw data and their settings. This makes the fluidlab adaptable to any research topic explored.

Easy sampling with acella

The 5 µl to 20 µl (depending on chamber height) of sample needed for cell analysis is easy to handle with the sample carrier acella. The disposable slide eliminates the possibility of contaminations, ensuring consistent results with each analysis. Acella enables fast and efficient sampling so the fluidlab can be integrated into your existing workflow with ease.
