Research should be advanced and not be inhibited by unnecessarily cumbersome, time-consuming routine procedures. For this reason anvajo has made the development of innovative and progressive solutions for the analysis of liquids to the task.
The goal is to make the work in the laboratory as simple and time-saving as possible. At the same time the technologies used by anvajo are precise and reliable.
Additionally anvajo works on the world's most compact universal platform for liquid analysis. The Point-of-Care solutions for laboratory diagnostics developed by anvajo are to lead to faster results and consequently earlier action decisions.
The interdisciplinary laboratory measuring instruments are thereby universally applicable and independent of the workplace.
Space-saving: Enlarge your work surface with our handy fluidlab R-300
Spectrometers are usually large laboratory measuring devices that are tied to a fixed location in the laboratory. They take up a lot of space and leave little room for working or other laboratory equipment.
The need for an automatic cell counter as a separate device further reduces the work area and can lead to a lack of space.
The fluidlab R-300 counteracts this problem in two ways.
Firstly, it is a very small laboratory measuring instrument, which means that it fits very well in one hand. Secondly, it combines two instruments in one. This means that no additional device is needed on the work surface.
Independent of location: Use your laboratory analyzer directly at the place of need
The fluidlab R-300 is not only handy because of its small size. Its low weight also makes it a portable laboratory measuring instrument.
Measurements can be performed under the sterile workbench or at other workplaces within the laboratory.
Which measuring methods can be performed with the fluidlab R-300?
Thanks to the combination of spectrometer and cell counter, the R-300 is suitable for various measurement methods such as:
- Extinction measurement of liquids
- Scattered light measurement for determining the optical density of a bacterial culture
- Cell Counting
- Viability measurement without staining the cells
These devices can be replace by the fluidlab R-300
Since the fluidlab R-300 combines a spectrometer and a cell counter in one device, it eliminates the need for a manual counting chamber and an additional automatic cell counter.
The neural network counts the cells reliably and a viability measurement is performed without the use of dyes.
Furthermore, no additional spectrometer is needed, since the spectrometer of the R-300 measures absorbances in the range of 375 nm - 700 nm.
How to use the fluidlab R-300 as a spectrometer
With 375 - 700 nm, the spectrometer of the fluidlab R-300 covers almost the entire spectrum.
The absorbance of liquids can be measured using a standard cuvette, which is positioned in an adapter in the R-300.
Depending on the type of measurement, different adapters can be used. The LED light source of the R-300 is switched on before the measurement. The light passes the cuvette with the liquid and is then detected.
In which areas the spectrometer can be used and further information about the function and additional information about the scattering measurement with the R-300 can be found here.
Also suitable as counting chamber and cell counter
Thanks to the digital holographic microscopy of the R-300, cell counting and viability determination is possible.
Cell counting is fully automated, because machine learning algorithms such as neural networks evaluate cell count and viability.
The neural network analyzes cells extracted from the background by differentiating between cell forms and measuring the cell's viability.
In this way, cell counting and viability measurement is faster, easier and more specific than with the standard method.
This eliminates the need for manual counting, which is less precise and more time-consuming.
For measurement, the sample carrier of the R-300 is filled with the prepared sample and inserted into the adapter. Our video shows how these steps are performed. The measurement is then performed automatically. Further information about cell counting with the R-300 can be found here.
Do the functions of the fluidlab R-300 differ from conventional laboratory measuring instruments?
Unlike other cell counters, fluidlab R-300 uses a new microscopy technology. This is the digital holographic microscopy.
This creates so-called "holograms" of the cells. These holograms contain information that is not captured by brightfield images.
For analysis using the neural network, the cells are extracted from the background and the required information is determined. Thanks to this technology the cells are not only counted more reliably, but their viability is also measured without the use of dyes.
Like most spectrometers, the spectrometer of the R-300 works with light that passes through the liquid and is detected at the end. However, it has an LED light source, while other spectrometers have a Xenon lamp. With a spectral resolution of about 2 nm it is more accurate than other spectrometers, which have a resolution of about 5 nm.

What degree of automation does the fluidlab R-300 offer?
The fluidlab R-300 counts the cells automatically and indicates them directly as concentration in cells/µL.
The cell concentration can also be automatically converted into cells/mL by the instrument.
In addition, the neural network automatically recognizes living cells and can distinguish them from dead cells, cell fragments or other particles.
Comparatively low costs for universal application
When you buy a fluidlab R-300, you get a spectrometer and an automated cell counter at the same time. This results in considerable cost savings, because the fluidlab R-300 is in a similar price segment to other spectrometers. In contrast to these, it comes with an integrated cell counter. For which areas of application is the fluidlab R-300 suitable?
The fluidlab R-300 offers a wide range of applications. By covering the two most frequently used methods in cell culture - spectrometry and cell counting - it is universally applicable.
Thus, the fluidlab is particularly suitable for research purposes and can be used in basic research.
What does the future of laboratory analysis look like with the fluidlab R-300?
Currently the R-300 has CE certification.
The goal is to revolutionize human medical and clinical diagnostics in the future with the R-300 by providing fast and reliable results.
The analysis of blood cells will also play a role in this.
